Troubleshooting¶
Fixes for the problems that come up most. Nearly every "it looked fine yesterday" report is a stale browser cache, so start there.
Stale browser cache¶
TrafficCAD is a single-page app, and browsers cache those aggressively. After a new version ships, an outdated cached copy can leave you with display errors, missing or unresponsive controls, tools that appear not to load, or stale data. The fix is to clear the cache and reload so the browser fetches the latest build.
Try these in order:
- Hard refresh the page to bypass the cache once:
- Windows / Linux:
Ctrl + Shift + R(Chrome, Edge, Firefox). - macOS Chrome / Edge / Firefox:
Cmd + Shift + R. - macOS Safari:
Cmd + Option + R.
- Windows / Linux:
- Open the app in a private / incognito window to confirm the problem is cache related. If it works there, the cache is the cause.
- Clear the cached files for the site if a hard refresh is not enough, then reload.
Safari users
Safari caches map apps aggressively, so it is the most common source of these issues. To empty Safari's cache, choose Develop → Empty Caches (Cmd + Option + E), or Safari → Clear History, then reload the page. If the Develop menu is hidden, enable it in Safari → Settings → Advanced → Show features for web developers.
A fresh page load against the latest build resolves the large majority of "the app looks broken after updating" reports.
I can't sign in¶
- Wrong workspace. If you belong to more than one organization, check the one you are signed into with Switch organization in the TrafficCAD menu.
- "Your organization doesn't have an active subscription." An owner or admin needs to choose a plan before members can get in. See Getting Started.
- An expired invite. Invite links last 14 days. Ask your admin to send a new one from Dashboard → Team.
- Forgotten password. Use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen. If you originally signed up with Continue with Google, keep using that button — there is no separate password on the account.
A tool is greyed out or shows a tier chip¶
Some capabilities belong to a higher plan — live collaboration needs Complete or Max, for example. The item stays visible with a small tier chip so you can see what it does; clicking it offers the upgrade. Check your current plan under Dashboard → Billing.
I've run out of seats¶
Dashboard → Team shows how many seats are in use. Pending invites hold a seat, so revoking an invite that is no longer needed frees one immediately. Otherwise use Add seats. Seat limits are enforced by the server, so members plus pending invites can never exceed your subscription.
Auto Site brought back nothing, or the wrong thing¶
Auto Site reads live map data for the area in view. If a corridor comes back empty or wrong:
- Zoom in first. Auto Site works on the visible extent; a whole-city view returns too much and may time out.
- The underlying map data may be incomplete. Lane counts, widths, and speed limits come from the source data and are not everywhere. Everything it produces is editable — set the missing values on the road and the corridor re-derives.
- Divided roads look doubled. That is two carriageways drawn separately in the source. Combine them, or use Separate combined road if you want them apart. See Roads, Vectorize & Site Modeling.
Generated distances look wrong¶
Every computed number — taper, buffer, sign spacing — comes from the posted speed and the road geometry the plan was generated against. If a taper looks short or long, check the posted speed on the road first; it is the single input that moves those numbers most. The citation printed next to each value tells you which table was applied, so you can check the manual directly. See Traffic Control Plans.
My PDF doesn't measure correctly in Bluebeam¶
Each exported sheet carries its own scale, so Bluebeam's measurement tools should read correct feet with no calibration. If they don't, confirm you are measuring inside a viewport that has a scale set, rather than on blank sheet space. See Exporting PDFs & Bluebeam.
