Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information TrafficCAD (“we,” “us”) collects when you use our website and the TrafficCAD application (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. We build software for professionals; we treat your information the way we would want ours treated — collected sparingly, used to run the product, and never sold.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. Name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash), workspace name, and optional company details you provide (such as a logo, website, or city used to position your map).
- Billing information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive and keep records such as your plan, seat count, billing status, and billing address; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Project content. The plans, drawings, and files you create or upload are stored so your team can access them. They are your content, and we access them only to operate, support, and safeguard the Service.
- Usage and service-integrity information. We collect information about how the Service is used — such as feature usage, approximate activity volumes, device and session information, and network information — to operate the Service, understand what to improve, and protect the Service, our customers, and our licensing against misuse and fraud.
- Communications. Messages you send us (support, contact form) and email delivery events for the messages we send you.
2. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including collaboration features your team uses together (for example, showing teammates who is working in a shared project).
- To process subscriptions, invoices, and taxes, and to prevent and respond to payment fraud and abuse.
- To secure the Service, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect against unauthorized access and misuse.
- To send transactional email about your account (sign-in and confirmation links, invitations, billing notices) and, with your consent, occasional product updates. You can opt out of non-essential email at any time.
- To respond to your requests and provide support.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your project content to build advertising profiles.
3. How information is shared
We share information only with service providers that help us run TrafficCAD, under agreements that limit their use of it to providing services to us:
- Stripe — payment processing and billing.
- Supabase — application database, authentication, and file storage.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, application hosting, and network security.
- Resend and Google Workspace — sending and receiving email.
We may also disclose information if required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety, or property of TrafficCAD, our customers, or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case this policy continues to apply to the transferred information). Within a workspace, information like your name, email, and activity is visible to your teammates — that is what a shared workspace is for.
4. Cookies and local storage
The Service uses cookies and browser storage for signing you in, remembering your preferences, and keeping the application fast. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
5. Data retention
We keep account and project information while your account is active. If you delete your account, associated workspaces you solely own — including their projects — are deleted, and any active subscription is cancelled. Some records (for example invoices and payment records) are retained as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. Backups roll off on a fixed schedule.
6. Security
Information is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and customer data is segregated per workspace with database-level access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but security is designed into how TrafficCAD is built and operated, and we review it continually.
7. Your rights and choices
- You can view and update your account information, change your email, and export your projects from within the Service.
- You can delete your account from Settings, subject to the workspace-ownership safeguards described in the app.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability). To exercise them, email contact@trafficcad.com — we respond to verified requests as required by applicable law.
8. Where data is processed
TrafficCAD is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the Service from elsewhere, you understand that your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
9. Children
The Service is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the Service or by email, with the effective date above updated. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
